The young driver Agustín López Gagliasso was caught by security cameras in Rosario in a tragic incident where he ran over and killed Tania Gandolfi, 41, and her daughter Agustina García, 16. The incident took place in the Arturo Illia tunnel and resulted in the preventive detention of Gagliasso for double homicide with eventual intent.
According to Giovanna R., who was with Gagliasso at the time of the incident, it all started after a fight with a motorcyclist and stated that the young man "was blinded." Prosecutors Mariana Prunotto and Valeria Piazza Iglesias attributed to the driver maintaining a quarrel in the tunnel, making risky overtaking maneuvers, and losing control of the vehicle at over 120 km/h.
The mayor of Rosario, Pablo Javkin, revealed through his social media the images captured by the Traffic Video Control cameras that showed Gagliasso's route before the fatal accident. In the videos, the young man is seen driving at a normal speed until, moments before entering the Illia tunnel, he encounters a motorcycle and begins to accelerate dangerously.
"The video control cameras captured the driver at more than 120 km per hour, double the allowed speed. The driver killed, and there is no situation that justifies such criminal behavior," expressed Javkin regarding the images.
